Deleting your account

Last updated 25 September 2026

You can delete your Open Library Kashmir account yourself, at any time, on the website or in the Android app. It takes effect straight away.

How to delete it

On the website: sign in, open your profile, scroll to “Delete your account”, choose Delete account, type DELETE and confirm.

In the Android app: tap the account icon at the top of the Home screen to open your profile, scroll down, tap Delete account and confirm.

If you can't sign in any more: email osaleem.kash@proton.me from the email address of the account, and we'll delete it for you.

What is deleted

Everything tied to your account is deleted straight away and can't be brought back:

  • your sign-in details, email address and profile, including your saved location
  • your books and the photos you uploaded
  • your requests, messages, reading progress, saved books and wishlist
  • your club memberships, club posts, event sign-ups, book notes and blocks
  • your notifications and your Contact Admin conversation
  • warnings and suspensions on your account

What stays, without your name

  • Ratings you gave other members, so their scores stay fair.
  • Reports you filed, so moderators keep the evidence.
  • A book's ownership history, if you gave a book to someone else. It shows the book had an earlier owner, but not who.

None of these can be linked back to you once your account is gone.

If you applied to join the OLK team, the application is a separate thing and is not deleted with your account, because it contains your own contact details. Email us and we'll delete it.

When you have to wait

So that deleting your account never takes something away from other members, it is refused while:

  • a book is still out on loan, to you or from you. Finish the exchange first.
  • you run a book club. Ask the admin team to hand it over first, so its members and chat aren't lost.

Your profile tells you if one of these applies. Any requests that are still open when you delete your account are closed, and the other member is told.
